| Java Applets are used to
view practically all Virtual Images on this website. Java Virtual Machine (or
Microsoft Java Virtual Machine) needs to be present and enabled on your
browser for all java applets to work. This is present by default
on most browsers and computers avoiding the need for any plug-in downloads. Normally
you will be prompted by your browser if it is not present or not
enabled. Javascripts are used for popup windows displaying some of
the Virtual Images. Windows XP: Sadly some new computers with Windows XP v1.0 and IE 6.0 do not have MS Java Virtual Machine included. This has been amended with Windows Service Pack 1 for Windows XP. Note: There are two versions of Java
Virtual Machine, Sun Microsystems Java Virtual Machine and
Microsoft Java Virtual Machine. |

| Most computer magazines come with a CD or two which normally contain the latest free versions of browsers Netscape Navigator or Opera which have the option (whilst loading) to include Java. Some versions of Internet Explorer 6 will also but Microsoft Java Virtual Machine is normally included in a 'Patches' section of the cds. | ||

| Java plug-in from Sun Microsystems (9mB). Bigger than MSJVM but then it is the best version from the 'home of Java' but as stated above probably best to use with non Microsoft browsers. | ||
| Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (5mB) (presently only available from Microsoft on Service Pack 1 for Windows XP) although can be obtained from other sites eg above link | ||
